Remembrance Sunday 2018
The Remembrance Day service was held in St Ayle at Anstruther and was conducted by Rev Nigel Robb, Interim Moderator of St Ayle Anstruther and Cellardyke, linked with Kilrenny. Church and community came together to remember those who fell in World War 1 and in subsequent conflicts throughout the world. Wreaths were laid at the Anstruther War Memorial after morning worship and also at the Kilrenny War Memorial in Cellardyke in the afternoon after the Silent Walk which paid tribute to those killed from Cellardyke during the First World War. There was a time for quiet reflection and prayer in the evening in each of our churches finishing with the ‘Ringing out for Peace’ event at 7.05pm when we joined churches throughout the country to ring out the church bells.
A poignant day from start to finish. ‘We will remember them’.
The flower arrangements on the communion table were set in World War 1 shell cases with laurel leaves for heroes and rosemary for remembrance.
